It is considered morally good to recycle plastic. It can help the environment.

However, recycling plastic is only part of the equation. Companies must use that recycled plastic. Only a fraction of recycled plastic gets used because new plastic is cheaper to make.

And recyclers may feel less inclined to push for legislation because they have already done their part.
