I notice how concerns with political correctness can get in the way of outreach. An example is holiday well-wishes. I used to wish a Merry Christmas to everyone broadly as a sort of ritualistic “thinking of you.”

Then, it was brought to my attention it could be seen as political or exclusionary of other beliefs. I have also been told that alternatives, such as “Happy Holidays” could also be seen as political. I noticed this conundrum has made me hesitate to perform outreach at all.

If bringing awareness about inclusivity or political fault-lines reduces outreach, does it actually separate us more?
